Privacy Policy
How ChorePoints handles family data.
Effective date: July 9, 2026
ChorePoints is a family chore and rewards service. Parents create and manage a family account, add child profiles, assign chores, review chore submissions, and manage rewards. This policy explains what we collect, why we collect it, and how parents can control it.
Who controls a family account
ChorePoints is intended for household use under a parent or guardian's supervision. Parents create the account, add child profiles, choose what chores require photos, and decide whether AI photo verification is enabled for a chore. Children do not create public profiles, do not have social feeds, and cannot share chore photos publicly through ChorePoints.
Information we collect
- Parent account information: parent name, email address, password hash, family name, account settings, authentication tokens, and support communications.
- Child profile information: child profile name, avatar color, PIN hash, points balance, chore history, reward redemptions, and related family activity.
- Chore and reward content: chore titles, descriptions, schedules, point values, reward names, reward prices, notes, and review decisions.
- Photos and image content: optional chore cover photos, parent reference photos, reward images, and before/after chore completion photos when a chore requires photo verification.
- AI verification results: pass/fail result, confidence score, and a short explanation when AI photo verification is enabled.
- Subscription information: purchase entitlement, product identifier, expiration status, and billing status received from the app stores through RevenueCat. We do not receive full card numbers from Apple or Google.
- Device and service information: app version, basic request logs, IP address, security events, diagnostics, and limited device information sent with a chore submission if the app provides it.
- Website interaction information: page path and limited first-party events such as a Google Play click, QR-code view, or resource-tool completion. Standard web access logs may also include IP address, user agent, referring page, response status, and timing.
How chore photos are used
Chore photos are used to verify chores, show parents what was submitted, display parent-selected chore or reward images, and keep a record of the household's chore history. Photos are stored in private object storage and are delivered to the app through short-lived signed links.
For chore verification, the app uses camera-only capture. The verification flow is designed so a child takes a fresh photo instead of selecting an old image from the photo library. We do not sell chore photos, use them for advertising, publish them, or use them to train ChorePoints models.
AI photo verification
If a parent enables AI photo verification for a chore, ChorePoints may send the relevant reference photo and the child's submitted photo to our AI service provider to determine whether the chore appears complete. The AI response is used only to approve the chore, ask the child to retry, or send the submission to a parent for manual review.
AI verification is optional and can be enabled per chore. If AI is unavailable, reaches a limit, or is not confident enough, ChorePoints falls back to parent review.
How we use information
- Provide family accounts, parent and child profile access, chores, points, and rewards.
- Verify chore submissions manually or through optional AI photo verification.
- Process subscription entitlements and keep paid features available to subscribed families.
- Protect account security, prevent abuse, troubleshoot bugs, and operate the service.
- Measure which public resources and store links are useful so we can improve the website.
- Respond to support requests and send important service notices.
- Comply with legal obligations and enforce our terms.
Website measurement and cookies
The public website records a small set of first-party interaction events without advertising cookies, cross-site tracking, or a persistent visitor identifier. Resource calculators and printable tools run in the browser and do not require an account; the values entered into those tools are not included in the measurement event.
When we share information
We share information only with service providers that help us operate ChorePoints, such as hosting, database, object storage, email/support, AI verification, app store billing, and subscription entitlement providers. These providers are required to protect user data and process it only for the service they provide to us.
We may also disclose information if required by law, to protect families or the service from abuse or security threats, or as part of a business transfer such as a merger or acquisition. We do not sell personal information and we do not share personal information for cross-context behavioral advertising.
Children's privacy
Child profiles are created and managed by parents. We collect child profile information only to provide household chore, points, rewards, and photo verification features. Parents can update or delete child profiles in the app, and may contact us to request deletion of a family account or associated child data.
Your choices
- Parents choose whether a chore requires a photo and whether AI verification is enabled.
- You can deny or revoke camera permission in your device settings. Chores that require photos may need parent review or a different setup.
- Parents can update child profiles, chores, rewards, and many family settings in the app.
- You can request access, correction, export, or deletion by contacting us.
Retention and deletion
We keep family account data, child profiles, chore history, reward history, photos, and AI verification results while the account is active or as needed to provide the service. When a parent deletes a child profile or requests account deletion, we will delete or de-identify associated data unless we need to retain it for security, legal, billing, backup, or dispute purposes. Backup copies may remain for a limited period before they expire through normal backup rotation.
Security
We use reasonable technical and organizational safeguards, including hashed passwords and PINs, authenticated API access, private storage, and short-lived image links. No online service can guarantee perfect security, so parents should use strong passwords and keep account access limited to trusted family members.
Changes to this policy
We may update this policy as ChorePoints changes. If changes are material, we will take reasonable steps to notify parents through the app, website, or email.
